An individual who contaminated sweets with sedative and distributed them to youngsters at a youth camp in the region has confessed to sexual offences against two young males both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he disputed a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was kept in jail ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer camp which he managed.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She stated the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in summer 2025.
The prosecutor added: "In the summer" his family member had suspicions about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel said objects including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his family member alerted the police about his concerns.
She stated the man proceeded to play the "treat game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that stage," she continued.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior said the minors were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson called the law enforcement a second time.
She explained the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five minors.
